Kids Clothes Week day 6 & 7: Mara & jeans

Statement van de dag: Eloise is een jurkjes-meisje!

Onzin natuurlijk. Haar kast hangt vol met jurkjes omdat ik nu eenmaal heel erg graag jurkjes naai. Maar ik moet bekennen dat ik haar eigenlijk super cool vind met een broekje en een leuke T-shirt bijvoorbeeld.

Om de Kids Clothes Week af te sluiten besliste ik om eens iets anders te doen: geen jurkje, maar wel een bloesje. Ik zag bij Kathleen een prachtige Mara voorbijkomen, en zette het patroon op mijn (ellenlange) to-do lijst. Gisteren ging ik er eindelijk voor, en vanochtend legde ik de laatste hand zodat Eloise vandaag kon passen.

Eloise is very girly-girly, or otherwise said: that is how I like to dress her. Nonetheless, I have to admit that she looks super cool wearing a skinny jeans with a cute top. For this last day of 'KCW', I decided to sew a blouse. My first blouse ever. Bye bye comfort zone!

 I opted for a Compagnie M. pattern, the Mara.

... and I'm soooooo happy with the result!

Ik gebruikte een stofje van Art Gallery, dat ik kocht via een Etsy shop; en werkte af met zilveren paspel en ivoorkleurige knoopjes. Ik ben superblij met het resultaat, zelfs mijn vriend zwaaide deze keer met complimentjes.

I used a lovely Art Gallery fabric, and teamed it with silver piping and ivory buttons. Next time I really need to do a better job on the folds, I have the feeling they are not as symmetrical as they should be according to the pattern instructions. This is, by the way, one thing I absolutely adore about the Compagnie M. patterns: detailed instructions and a lot of pictures.

Ik maakte de 2 jaar voor mijn 22 maanden oude dochter en de maat lijkt mij prima; onder haar armpjes heeft ze nog wat ruimte maar dat stoort niet.
Vandaag was ze terug in een poseer-modus dus ik heb deze kans met beide handen gegrepen. Geef toe, ze staat toch schattig met haar bloesje en jeanske... :-)

A  nice way to end Kids Clothes Week; a very productive one it is! Three dresses and one blouse: CHECK! It was a lot of fun, so count me in for the next edition!


... en dit is dan het einde van mijn eerste Kids Clothes Week. De balans: drie jurkjes en een bloesje; en nog een broekje en jasje die geknipt klaarliggen. Ik vond het in ieder een leuke ervaring en volgende keer doe ik opnieuw mee!

Kids Clothes Week day 4 & 5 ... and we don't feel like posing

Nog twee dagen te gaan, 

en mijn eerste Kids Clothes Week is alweer achter de rug. Ik heb grote plannen, maar of ik ze deze week allemaal nog uitgevoerd krijg is een andere zaak.

Ligt alvast geknipt klaar:
* Jacob broekje
* Jasje
* Hanami jurk met cirkelrok
* Mara bloesje

... en nu tijd vinden!

With only two more days to go, my first 'Kids Clothes Week' has almost come to an end. I confess: I have big and adventurous plans, but finding time is something else....
I've been a good girl yesterday, and I cut already 4 projects:
* Jacob trousers
* a coat
* Hanami dress with a fancy cirkleskirt
* Mara blouse

So stay tuned, many more to come... (as soon as I find some extra time :-) )

Ik legde gisteren ook de laatste hand aan (ja, alweer) een Hanami jurkje. Deze keer met rimpelrok en kraagje, maar zonder mouwtjes. Ik val in herhaling maar ik ben echt fan van dit patroon.

Een snel klaar projectje... en deze keer heb ik wel extra aandacht geschonken aan de doorlopende print achteraan. Een jaar geleden had ik nog nooit gehoord van het concept "blinde rits" maar dankzij de fantastische uitleg van Spiegelstiksels staat die blinde rits op een paar minuten waar hij moet staan. Zonder gefoefel. Hoera!

Yesterday, I finished another Hanami Dress. I do realize you might think I'm only able to sew this pattern but it's just a winner every single time!
I adore the way it fits Eloise, and the great versatility (with our without collar, with or without sleeves, and so on...). 
.. and did you notice my "very" blind zipper? I use this tutorial, the result is a clean and professional look.

The fabric I used is from the popular Wee Wander collection. The quality is superb and the colors are radiant.

 

Eloise en ik zijn allebei trouwens grote fan van het stofje dat ik gebruikte; Eloise omwille van de paardjes, ik omwille van de levendige kleuren en de kwaliteit van de stof. Ik vermoed dat heel naai-en blogland ondertussen de beroemde Wee Wander collectie al kent? Wel, dit is er eentje uit de serie!

Ondanks het feit dat Eloise dit jurkje wel degelijk geslaagd vond (mooooi - kaadjes!*) had ze echt echt echt geen zin in foto's.... Heeft iemand ooit al gehoord van eigenwijze twee-jarigen? Ik heb een prachtexemplaar rondlopen!

My almost two-year old really didn't feel like posing today...so I decided to bring out the big guns: Cookies!

Unfortunately, my master plan failed: she really liked the cookies, but posing was definitely still not an option.

Ik haalde dus enkele pedagogisch verantwoorde lange vinger-koekjes uit de kast. Dit bracht weinig soelaas, ze had veel zin in de koekjes, maar nog steeds niet in foto's.

Vijf minuten en twee koekjes later vonden we het welletjes.
En weg was ze.
"Dada mama!"

Five minutes, and two cookies later, we both gave up.
'bye bye mommy'

*sigh*

Kids Clothes Week # 2&3: Colorbomb!

Het is woensdag vandaag... en dus al dag 3 van de Kids Clothes Week!
 Vandaag knipte ik mijn weg door een mooi, vrij klassiek, stofje. Een groot contrast met gisteren, want ik was in een zotte bui, wat resulteerde in een gek kleedje. Een explosie van kleuren, afgewerkt met een azuurblauw PeterPan-kraagje.

Oh... ik hoop echt dat Eloise mij dit later niet kwalijk gaat nemen :-)

I spent yesterday (day 2 of KCW) on cutting and sewing a very colorful dress. I was in a 'crazy' mood, and I think it shows. I do hope that Eloise will not mock me for styling her like this in a few years. The dress is a true explosion of different colors, and I even added a azure blue PeterPan collar to complete the picture.

De stof is van Michael Miller, en kocht ik maanden geleden via Hawthorne Threads. Ik haalde het ontelbare keren uit mijn stoffenkast, maar legde het even vaak weer terug. Gisteren besliste ik om er voor te gaan, en bedacht ik dat een simpel A-lijntje (zoals hier) het beste zou passen bij deze kleurrijke stof.

De meningen ten huize MinnieMie waren verdeeld. Toen ik het jurkje gisterenavond afwerkte zei mijn vriend: 'oei, het is wat druk', waarop ik met een bang hartje repliceerde: 'Eloise kan dat wel aan'...

I used a nice Michael Miller fabric. It was definitely love at first sight, but every time I wanted to use the fabric I put it away again as I was not sure of the pattern I would use. Yesterday, I decided that a simple A-line dress would do the trick. I have to admit that Mr. MinnieMie was not sure of my decision. His reaction was: 'oops, it's kind of busy'... on which I replied, kind of uncertain: 'no worries, Eloise will pull it off..'

In de creche werd er trouwens druk geknutseld ter ere van Pasen. Eloise maakte een fantastische paashaas (ik ben echt gek op haar knutselwerkjes), en ze was er zelf ook super trots op. 'Mama, nijn, mooi!'

Nijn mocht dus ook niet ontbreken op de foto.

 

Did you notice the "Easterbunny on a stick"? It's a creation of my daughter at her daycare. I adore the creativity, and my Eloise was very proud of her art...

Vanavond gingen we nog even wandelen in onze tuin...

When I picked her up after work, we went for a stroll in our garden. A nice end of a busy working day.

Kids Clothes Week #1: Bubble all the way

Het is Kids Clothes Week!
Een nieuw fenomeen voor mij, Mieke zette een berichtje op mijn Facebook wall: 'Deze mag je niet missen, het thema is Mini Me'

Ik ben wel klaar voor een uitdaging dus ga ik ervoor proberen te gaan.
Proberen heet dat dan, want ik moet toegeven dat ik vandaag niets genaaid heb. De bedoeling is dat je een uurtje gedurende de hele week bezig bent met 'creatief zijn' rond kinderkleding. Vandaar: ik heb een paar stofjes bekeken, ge-aaid, en terug weggelegd in mijn kast. Ik moest namelijk naar de kapper vanavond, grijze haren vind ik niet zo bij mij passen en daar moest ik iets aan (laten) doen.

YAY! It's Kids Clothes Week! Being a Blog-newbie, I hadn't heard of this phenomenon before two weeks ago. She wrote on my Facebook wall : 'Alright, you HAVE to join, the theme is Mini Me'. I decided to give it a try; what's an hour of creativity a day anyway? A lot it seems, ... as on the first day, I'm already not meeting the requirements :-) I worked all day (yes, I do have a full time job :-) ), and tonight I had a date with my hairdresser. Grey is not my kind of color and I really needed to fix this.

Maar... afgelopen weekend zette ik mijzelf in pre-Kids Clothes Week modus en maakte ik de Bubble Dress van StraightGrain. Ik had het gevoel dat dit modelletje schoon bij mijn modelletje zou passen, en dat bleek dus het geval te zijn.

Anyway, last weekend, I pre-started the KCW-challenge, and started off with the Bubble Dress by StraightGrain.
I was pretty sure that the pattern would fit my MinnieMie, it's cute, it's playful, it's bubbly! I almost wanted to bite her. In a good way.

Ik maakte het jurkje in een 2jaar. Mevrouw StraighGrain zelf waarschuwde mij dat het patroon iets ruimer valt dan de Hanami, en dit bleek ook het geval te zijn, maar storen doet het niet vind ik. Het bovenstukje zit nog ietwat ruim, maar dit is echt een zomerjurkje dus ze groeit er zeker in!
In de zomer laten we uiteraard ook dat body-tje achterwege...

Voorlopig combineren we dus nog met een giletje, het is er eentje van Filou, en de kleur past supermooi samen met de gele vogeltjes op het jurkje.

I decided to sew this dress in size 2. Miss StraightGrain herself warned me that this dress has a 'bigger' fit than the Hanami, and this is indeed the case. The bodice is a bit wide, but hey, this is a summer dress so still a few months to go and I'm pretty sure Eloise will grow into it. Until then, we'll match this dress with a cute little yellow vest, the colors are fantastic!

Ik krijg regelmatig de opmerking dat Eloise zo mooi poseert. Wat ik er niet bijvertel is dat ik miljoenen blooper foto's heb, die ik uiteraard niet toon.
... maar voor één keer maak ik een uitzondering:

I get a lot of  compliments on Eloise's posing style. What people obviously don't see are the hundreds of blooper-pictures HA! For once, I show them to you, as in the end, she's still a 'nearly two year old' who likes to fool around, and is often not willing to pose and ignores her poor mother, trying to take a picture.

Morgen haal ik mijn naaimachine boven. Dat staat vast.
Mijn motto voor de komende KCW is dus...

Tomorrow it's sewing time, and in the meantime...
